UNZA STUDENT BREAKS LEG IN ANTI-XENOPHOBIC PROTESTS By Kaluwe and Robby   W hile hundreds of foreign nationals in South Africa were running for their dear lives following a spate of xenophobic attacks in that country last week, a University of Zambia (UNZA) student sustai ned a broken leg in Lusaka during an activity sparked by the nationalistic disturbances happening almost 1,600 kilometers (km) away.   UNZA student  Grace Muzambalika  at the hospital :  picture by Mwiche Namukonde Grace Muzamb a lika, a third year Media and Communication Studies student at UNZA ,  broke her leg on Wednesday last week when she was trying to escape tear gas canisters fired by police during the 'peaceful' protest against xenophobic attacks perpetrated by South Africans in that country .     Muzambalika   explain s that she fell in to a drainage and broke her leg in an attempt to escape the tear gas at the South Afr...

UNIMA VISITS UNZA By. Robert and Busiku The University of Malawi (UNIMA) Student Representatives have arrived at the University of Zambia (UNZA)  for a four day visit. UMSU students meets UNZASU at UNZA on Saturday :picture by  Robert Sintufya  University of Malawi Students Union (UMSU) president Kondwani Mangoni arrived with 11 other student representatives from UNIMA for a student exchange programme. The union which was led by the Dean of students arrived in the early hours of Saturday last week and was received by the University of Zambia Students Union (UNZASU) president, Warren Hamusunga. The Student Representatives are currently being hosted at UNZA Commonwealth building. UNZA has enjoyed excellent relations and cooperation with students from Malawi. Early this year, students from UNZA particularly those doing special education did visit Malawi.  -ENDS-
